Quilted wall hanging (28" x 28"), intricately pieced and appliqued of three different Australian Aboriginal designs on a gray background, to visually represent the Aboriginal custom of "going walkabout"--walking sacred paths guided by ancient songs. Each fabric traces distinct but wandering paths across the quilt.

The quilt block is a traditional American design known as "Drunkard's Path" and the quilting template is a wandering spiral to emphasize both the forward momentum of the walker and the indirectness of the path. As always, the quilting is done by hand.
